The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) provides free tax preparation for individuals who earn up to $55,000 annually providing immediate cash to supplement living expenses, pay debt, or save money.

Eligibility to receive free tax filing:

  • Earn up to $55,000 a year
  • If filing your taxes jointly, your spouse must be present at the time of drop off
Services provided by VITA:
  • 2017 – 2021 Tax Preparation
  • 1040X Amended Tax Returns (regardless of the location where initially prepared )
  • Free W-7 application assistance for the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

What to bring to receive free tax filing:

  • Original photo identification
  • Original Social Security Number card
  • All tax documents including W-2s, 1099R’s, SSA-1099, 1099Misc, bank interest, or dividend forms (1095A)
  • Completed intake forms in English or Spanish

Where to receive free tax filing:

The Guadalupe Community Center VITA office is open for assistance:

  • Monday thru Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm

Bring copies or original photo identification, Social Security Number cards, and tax documents at drop-off. Tax preparation will be returned within 48-72 hours. Returns will continue to be processed through June 15th.

How to be a VITA volunteer:

Volunteers are provided 20 hours of IRS-certified training for free basic tax preparation. Register with Volunteer Services to become a certified tax preparation volunteer.
