The Rapid Response Unit is a fully equipped mobile resource designed to deliver case management, food assistance, and disaster relief services directly to communities across the 19 counties of the Archdiocese or anywhere Catholic Charities is needed.
The Rapid Response Unit serves as a multi-purpose mobile food pantry, office, and charging station, allowing staff to provide intake services, assess client needs, and distribute essential supplies outside of Catholic Charities’ designated office locations. The unit is equipped with functional workstations, laptops, monitors, satellite Wi-Fi, and a guest internet network to support on-site services in areas with limited connectivity. The Rapid Response Unit is also designed to operate in areas with limited or no power or internet access, ensuring Catholic Charities can continue serving vulnerable individuals and families during emergencies and times of crisis
The Rapid Response Unit is an addition to the current fleet of Catholic Charities’ mobile relief units. The primary Mobile Relief Unit, also known as Hope, launched in 2018 as a vehicle that could provide meals and beverages through a USDA-certified kitchen and transport material goods to the displaced, the rural counties, or disaster relief. A second unit, the Mobile Shower Unit, was added in 2019 to provide two private showers and a washer/dryer space to assist with those displaced as houseless or in natural disasters. All three units are intended to compliment each other as part of the Humanitarian Services program outreach.
